Using a network of repeaters most communications are controlled from central location using the call sign VICFIRE
When VICFIRE was introduced in the late 90's there were only four regions involved, Seven, Eight, Thirteen & Fourteen.
But this has increased to include many more.
Each regions repeater network is setup in a voting configuration which means that each repeater operates on a different frequency, the transmitting radio and the repeaters work out which frequency is the strongest, then drops the weaker receive signals and continues to broadcast the transmission on all the repeaters.
What does this mean for you?
It just means that some of the frequencies will not be suited for your location, You will have to experiment a little to find the repeater that is closest to you and give the best signal.

The CFA in conjunction with the DSE use fixed wind aircraft and helicopters for everything from direct fire attack to plotting where a fire has been and where it is expected to burn next. These frequencies are used across the entire state and at times can be heard from significant distances from the actual fire.

CFA UHF Network
The CFA has a large allocation of UHF frequencies used for linking repeaters and low power mobile crossband repeaters. There is a bit of activity on some of these frequencies from time in certain area's.
